OUR IMPACT

The way we raise food matters.

To the land. To the animals. To the people behind every meal.

Simply Pasture is being built around a simple belief: good food should come with care for everything that helped produce it. We want to make that care easier to understand—and easier to choose.

Think beyond the next harvest.

Land that keeps giving.

We want farming practices that protect soil, support living landscapes, and help farms keep producing over time.

Care animals can experience.

Suitable feed. Clean water. Room to move. Shade, shelter, and attentive care. Different animals have different needs.

Farmers whose work is seen.

We want people to know who raises their food, where it comes from, and how the farm operates.

What care looks like.

Give the landscape time and space.

Let grazed plants recover. Keep soil covered. Protect the places water travels. Management decisions should respond to the soil, weather, and growth on each farm.

Make everyday care visible.

Food, water, shelter, and attentive handling matter every day. Care should reflect each animal’s needs, with feed considered part of the wider farming system.

Timing follows plant growth, weather, and the condition of the pasture.

What research shows

Grazing results depend on place and management. A southeastern U.S. farm comparison found greater soil-carbon stocks under adaptive grazing. A ten-year Colorado experiment changed the mix of grasses without increasing total forage production. These findings help explain why observation and adjustment matter.

A whole world beneath your feet.

A pasture’s story continues underground. Living roots, soil organisms, and water are connected. Understanding those connections is part of caring for the land.

Explore the soil story

Living roots

Plants supply carbon to organisms around their roots. Certain fungi exchange nutrients with plants in return.

Soil life

Organisms break down plant material and help cycle nutrients through the soil.

Water

Roots and soil structure influence how rainfall enters and moves through the ground. Results depend on local conditions and management.

Progress people can see.

Our ambition needs to be matched by evidence. As Simply Pasture develops, we intend to connect our standards with farm information, care records, and clear reporting.

What was measured.

A clear explanation of the result.

Where and when.

The farm, conditions, and time period.

What the limits are.

The context needed to understand the finding.

These are the questions we intend to answer when we report progress.

Bring the farm closer to the table.

Milk in the morning. Eggs for breakfast. Something simple for dinner. Our vision is to connect everyday foods with farming standards people can understand and farmers they can learn about.

Simply Raised. Simply Better.
